The Manifesto
Ikigai Studio Art is a living space with more than one door: voice and sound practices that steady the body, workshops that unlock creativity, and Book Parties that feed the intellect. We live in a world that never stops talking — to us, at us, around us. This studio exists as a counterpoint: a place to listen, to express and to explore.
These are the convictions our practice stands on. They are not rules. They are an invitation.
I
You do not need to sing well. You do not need to be heard by anyone but yourself. The voice, freed from judgement, becomes a place you can return to — a home inside the body.
II
Beneath the noise of modern life there is a reservoir of quiet. Sound and voice are the doors we open to reach it. What waits there is not silence, but presence.
III
Before words, there is breath, rhythm and vibration. We listen to the body before we ask anything of the mind. Regulation comes before reflection.
IV
You were creative long before anyone taught you to be careful with it. Our workshops are places to recover that spontaneity — to make, to play and to express, without waiting for permission.
V
A book read alone informs; a book discussed together transforms. Our Book Parties bring reading, conversation and curious minds around one table — because thinking, like singing, is better done in company.
VI
You are not an audience here. You are invited — never forced — to take part in your own process of exploration. What you discover yourself, no one can teach you.
VII
A reason for being is not found once and kept. It is practised, gently, day after day. Each session is one step along that way.
If any of this resonates in you — even quietly — there is a seat waiting for you in the studio.
